Roadshow

Part of the Mastering Amiga Vampire 1200 v2 Guide

Updated on March 30, 2025

Introduction

This part of the guide describes all the steps to install Roadshow and configure it to use the ethernet card for the Vampire 1200 v2 card. Roadshow is probably the fastest TCP/IP stack around for AmigaOS and still in active development.

In this guide we are going to use the commercial version of Roadshow and you need to purchase a license for it (€25 EUR). Support Amiga developers, buy it :).

At the time of writing the latest version of Roadshow is 1.15.

Prerequisites

Step 1

...

On another computer copy the file "roadshow.lha" to the SD card and then boot your Amiga to the Workbench screen.

Step 2

...

Double click on the "SD0C" icon in "AmigaOS:Storage/DOSDrivers/" to mount your SD card.

Step 3

...

Now selected "Execute command.." from the Workbench menu to open the "Execute a file" window. Enter "newshell" and press enter or click on the "Execute" button.

Step 13

...

Select where you want to install Roadshow and a new folder named "Roadshow" will be created for you. I have created a folder named "Work" in the "AmigaOS" partition for all my software.

Step 14

...
...
...

Click "Proceed" to add Roadshow to your "User-Startup" file to have it run every time AmigaOS boots. It's really fast and maybe adds one second at startup.

You can see what the installation added to the "User-Startup" file and the content for the "Network-Startup" file in the pictures above.

Step 15

Click "Proceed".

Step 16
